Hahko Meets Greg Haver
What started as a Twitter beef became a very entertaining, and super educational ‘Hahko Meets Humans’ episode with Greg Haver.
After giving my take on a newly announced music producer fund, Greg replied with some disagreements, and he bought with him some considerable experience including not only producing albums for the Manic Street Preachers, The Simpsons (Yes, THE Simpsons – Follow the link for some deep cuts) & 48May, but also being a consultant & architect of the fund itself! I invited him to either a private beer or a public podcast to discuss further which led us to the recording of this great episode.
While being extremely experienced in music and the industry, Greg is also a pleasant, charming and funny guy, with a life full of stories and a genuinely inquisitive attitude to the world. He is interested in all the questions about the music industry that we talk about on the podcast, but also puts the effort in to drive the change he see’s needed.
We warm up this episode talking of his career and sharing laughs before moving into a really thorough discussion on the NZ Music Industry, talking about its strengths, what it’s improving and where it may be failing. Greg shares information about his studies into the industry, specifically his research comparing NZ with Sweden and we come together over our idea that a better introduction of music into our education system may have a big part to play in our future.
This episode was a great conversation, and hopefully a great conversation starter too, we hope you enjoy it!
