Hahko Meets KÉDU CARLÖ
Returning to the podcast are KÉDU CARLÖ, a duo of Acid Lords based in Auckland, New Zealand.
It was another work day, Benji and I were sitting right where you would find us 80% of the time. Headphones plugged in, working on edits and music. Hahko came in and said a little whassup as he waited for this weeks guests. Then Jess and Carly of Kedu Carlo entered the studio, and the air was electrified. There’s something so magnetic about these two – with huge smiles on their faces and incredibly warm personalities, continuing work for Benji and I was out of the question.
We sat down as Poynton’s Oscar Keys, who’s directing Kedu Carlo’s new music video, played Jess and Carly a first preview of the film. I call it a film because it really feels like that, it transcends the traditional music video.
Feeling pretty stoked ourselves to have had the privilege of seeing this incredible work before its release, I scanned the look on Jess and Carly’s face. I was sure that I was only holding half of the stoked tokens that these two were. I won’t go into any detail because it’s obviously not my story to tell, but sheesh, definitely keep your ear to the ground for the release of this thing. It’s insane.
With energy levels through the roof, the podcast kicks off with a very infectious laughter. This episode is everything and more that you could want from a return appearance of the electric Kedu Carlo.
Hahko writes below:
After touring the country over the summer, playing uncountable summer sets both live and as dj’s, Kedu Carlo had the summer they dreamed of. This week we caught up with the team to reconnect, and reflect over what turned out to be an exhausting and exhilarating season of shows.
In this episode we discuss expectations vs reality, the growth of the band and the new directions their focus is being placed creatively. All while maintaining a calm and appropriate volume to redeem ourselves after the first episodes raucous red-lining. And ofcourse giving Oscar Keys his (contractually obliged) shout-out.
Thanks to Poynton Studios for hosting and producing the podcast, including the awesome new BTS videos for each week, and thank you to Carly and Jess for their time and laughter.
