Carla and Jess talk about starting Jawline Dance Company as if it’s the most casual thing for young people to do.
Fresh out of the Unitec Dance programme, they had their first double-bill show at the Basement Theatre this month, and the next one is already in the pipeline.
They’ve thought about working separately, but working together just makes so much more sense. Jess dreams big. Her choreographic fantasies involve extravagant lifts and human slugs. Carla is pragmatic, and gently cuts Jess down to size.
We talk about movement, and money, and the way dance makes us feel. Jess shares her most whacky names for creative works, and Carla reveals her truth as a homebody.
