Sani and Tempest almost always sit in the same sentence.
They live and make art together, go to markets, and look after their Greyhound, Noodle.
I think when people imagine the life of queer artists they imagine raucous, frenzied lifestyles. Despite their somewhat sexy subject matters, these two just ooze wholesome vibes.
We talk about lockdown, mental health, and challenging the heteronormative views on cohabitation. They tell me how to play “hide the toast” and why their friendship confuses Sani’s family friends.
As I Third Wheeled, Sani was wearing their Keith Haring socks. I found this fitting. If Keith was here to see Sani and Tempest at work, he’d marvel at how far queer art has come.
