Hahko Meets Earth Tongue
On the podcast this week I had the pleasure of chatting to NZ psych-rocking two-piece Earth Tongue.
Another couple of inspiring people in my life, I first met Ezra & Gussie over in London, where Ezra introduced me to two of my now favorite bands, Ty Segall & King Gizzard.
After returning to NZ they were both heavily involved in a magical Wellington scene that included Earth Tongue, Mermaidens, ONONO, Hans Pucket & Finn Johansson before booking themselves a tour of Europe that seemed to continue indefinitely until this year, all the while producing a steady stream of vintage music and music videos too.
With their latest video for The Phoenix Foundation out, and a recent move to Auckland completed, we had a lot of ground to cover and a lot of catching up to do, while also discussing DIY, aesthetics, regional music scenes and the cold sweat of waiting for the development of film reel.
